Electric heating system

I’ve got electric radiators with on/off switches at the wall. On top the radiators have a ‘temperature’ control which from using them controls the strength of the heat produced. There’s no sensor in the radiator to detect ambient heat. On the wall is a control panel which I’ve managed to set the time of. The previous occupant has programmed a cycle for individual weekdays and weekends so I let it run on this. The control switch and radiators don’t seem to talk as the radiators are just controlled by the switches on the wall and slider on top. As the control switch went through the times when the hearing was meant to be on and off, radiators switched on at the wall remained on, contrary to settings, and radiators switched off at the wall remained off when meant to be on. Any ideas how it’s meant to work? Maybe I’m missing something on the controls but I can’t find instructions for it anywhere.

They don't look like it, but they could be storage heaters.
I used to have storage in my old flat. They never produce heat on demand, per se, they heat up over night on economy 10 and then release heat steadily throughout the day, or if required, can be opened up to release more. Possibly wrong though.
Edit: Looking again they look nothing like storage heaters, so ignore me.

I refuse to touch the scheduling on our heating. It makes me too angry.

I'm fine with that approach now, in May, but come January I'd like to be able to have some control over it in the mornings and evenings.

Your fourth pic says the programmer is a Dimplex, so I’m wondering if your heating panel is one of these (the thermostat image looks similar to your pic):

The programmer could be one of these:

... or I could be completely wrong.

Thank you again! Going to print these out so I don't have to go trawling again.
