Gladwin to Crawley
Not a huge surprise is it. I thought he looked very good at times this season but did tend to frustrate with his lack of shots and an ability to dawdle on the ball for ages. If we've got a decent fee for him then I am confident we have and will have better replacements. I wish him well. Undisclosed fee, I assume a tad less than we got for Reed.

Gladwin to Crawley
He is too old so Sandro must sell. This time next year we will replace 22yo with 18yo no doubt. Hopefully the Iandolo rumours were true as well

I honestly felt Gladwin would end his career here and with how well he's spoken this season I envisaged him going into coaching with us. There are other players with closer ties to the town but Gladwin really did feel like a local lad done good and I'm gutted he won't be part of the set up going forward.
I just hope Crawley have paid him a top wage, us a fee and I'd love to see him back here some day.
It's a real shame.

Gladwin had more TEF MoM votes than any other outfield player until Saidou Khan got 74 votes in a single game v Grimsby. He'd be an enormous miss unless we have a replacement lined up - if it's a Reed/Cain situation then fine. But let's not pretend he's not been good.

Big miss.
Been much better this season.
That’s Sandro getting the average age down, nothing else. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Hopefully Morris continues with Gunning’s insistence on speeding our play up. That alone is a reason to let Gladwin go - he slows everything down.
Whether it’s managers or players that cost us nowt we’ve done really well getting fees for them. Kudos.

How far can that go though really? I'm all for a young squad with players you develop, but you need a spine or group of older heads, not sure Sandro has a damn clue honestly.

This is fair - Gladwin and Reed were both low tempo, controlling the game midfielders. If we're changing tack then moving them on makes sense - but I can't imagine that we are changing very much considering all the "playing the game the right way" guff we tend to hear.

He started the season well, but like the rest of the team, was poor for the last 7/8 games.
Not a massive loss. We don’t beat Grimsby 5.0 with Gladwin in the team in my opinion. Does need to be replaced though.

We also don't know what his intentions were once he reached the end of his contract. He may have already stated he didn't want to sign another one and therefore cashing in on him is a positive outcome.
That said, he did seem to enjoy playing under SL so it was probably already agreed in principle once he went to Crawley.

‘Playing the right way’ is the biggest load of bollocks in football.
There is no right way. There is a successful way and that’s it.

Look at the team that went up with wellens. McCormick, Baudry, Caddis, Zakuan, Doughty, Grant, Doyle…. No secret what works. It’s just getting the average age down and getting rid of assets that have no real resale/ top end value

I presume the plan is - sign them young, give a decent length of contract, if we get promoted they should only improve in the league above. Sell. Rinse and repeat.
