I agree. Even a loan move somewhere with guaranteed game time and a change of scenery could have worked. Even to a top end Conference side like Notts County. Then come back and prove he's the senior pro he should be.
I like Ian but as a footballer he does seem lacking/naive. I would love him to kick on (he nearly did last season tbh which probably makes it more frustrating and feels like he's taken a backward step) but fear if he doesn't do so, for the rest of this season there can't be many more chances left in the pro leagues for him.
