great stuff, if i can help in any manner just give me a shout mate. he's a tax dodger too so he'll expect payment or free beer. Huh, I expected to be a millionaire by now with a string of trophy girlfriends. Learning to deal with disappointed expectations is all part of life's rich tapestry - it'll be good for him

Given that I don't even live in the UK, let alone the borough of Swindon, I've been following the recent developments with somewhat more than just a passing interest, but without the ability or confidence of mind to fully contribute or offer my opinion to date. That said, it doesn't make me any less passionate about the cause we are all fighting for. I have the utmost respect for the efforts of Trust STFC, the Official Supporter's Club and Loud & Proud in this matter and fully stand behind the campaign.
Therefore the question - what can I do to lend my weight to this campaign from afar? Paul - your thoughts?
(No fat jokes please, I'm a skinny runt :| )

the only payment i need is the sense of self-satisfaction which i will undoubtedly get from helping this worthy cause.
though a free pie wouldn't go amiss.
what time you about saturday morning, paul? i'll come and see you. i'll try and help you throw stuff at people but i'll have one of my trophy girlfriends with me and she may not be too happy...

Therefore the question - what can I do to lend my weight to this campaign from afar? Paul - your thoughts? For the moment, it's all about putting pressure on the council and waking up the public in Swindon to make them realise what they might be about to lose. So two suggestions: 1) write or email (if you're overseas) to Mike Bawden (Council leader) saying you're an expat, the club is a huge part of the town's identity/history etc; would be embarrassing to lose it; and pointing out that it's one of the major reasons you come back to the town, spending wedge as you do so. His address (and that of all councillors) is on the http://www.keeptowninswindon.org.uk/ site. We're hoping to get "sample" text for emails/letters etc on the website this evening/tomorrow morning, so we'll even give you a hand writing it! 2) Write to the Adver with a similar letter ie "Swindon born and bred, and proud of it (they'll love that), can't believe a deal can't be reached, club is massive part of town's character and heritage" etc. Oh and "I urge everyone to back Keep Town in Swindon campaign to the hilt", obviously. As we come up with more stuff people can do, and that we're doing, we'll put it on the website - like I say at the moment it's mainly about getting leaflets, postcards and posters out there and educating people. So also participating in debates on messageboards and persuading people to help out is a big help you can do from afar.

I shall have a little perusal of the internet for the cost of getting a proper banner made for the campaign.
Maybe an aim could be to gradually fill the Stratton Bank with banners? Something any fan can help with at minimal cost.

Derek for Sherriff! I don't want him. I want Yeovil. He's quicker on the draw (well obviously not as fast as flammableBen).
