I'd probably be leaving that last beer then......

Work is (nearly) always quiet, that's the beauty of working the night shift in a hospital, most buggers are in bed! Ask Yeovil, he'll testify to the joys of working the night shift Cool

I've done some nightshifts but only stacking shelves at asda. You get some wierd people in at 3 in the morning though.

I thried a mouthfull of the mould beer and it nearly made me puke so I pored it away. Just glad I got a sink in my room.

Why when we live in a civilised society can I not get a beer at 4.20am? It's not really fair.

True, you do get a few nutters on A+E, but i only walk through there 3 or 4 times a night.

Bloody laws in this country suck, why are 24 hour places like Tesco not allowed to sell beer in the early hours? If they're thinking about keeping pubs open for 24 hour + periods, then i think they should at least give a trial run of supermarkets selling alcohol at any time

To be fair I think that when the whole 24 hour thing kicks in, the big supermarkets will be the only ones to actually to sell alcohol 24hours. Bars and pubs will generally just be aloud to stay open a bit longer and be more flexible.

Still takes the piss at the moment when you can go buy a microwave curry from tesco's at 3am but can't get a few beers or a bottle of wine to go with it.

I'm not sure about this whole 24 opening hour thing anyway. Me and my mates have said that if it does happen, we will go on a 24 hour bender, with either a shot or a pint every hour, although it'll probably end up being more, as it takes me 10 minutes to drink a pint, if i'm drinking slowly :|

I get the feeling that most people will be doing the same too, or similar.

What about clubs? Will they be open for 24 hours too? I can only enjoy clubs if they're pretty full, would be crap if this drinking thing meant sparser (is that a word?) crowds.....

the whole thing is still licenced. places can't just open for 24 hours. They still have to apply for a licsence for how long they want to open till.  I think your average pub opening later will be a good thing though. It will stop everyone necking their drinks to hit a club or a bar which is opening later. Also more flexible closing hours will mean people leaveing places at a more staggered rate instead of everybody leaving the pubs at 11 and their being loads of pissed up blokes trying to find somewhere to go. Or all the clubs kicking people out at 2am leaving carnage in town. Might be a bit messy for the first few months but when people get used to it I think it will be an improvement.

I hope your right, i like going out later anyway, cheaper drinking at home beforehand. Sometimes find i don't get into town til gone 10pm, and with pubs heaving, you're lucky to get a pint/double vodka red bull in before it's off to the club. Then you have to pay club prices to get yourself anything close to topped-up. Maybe it will work.

When is it being brought in?
