....went looking for a bit of pre match banter, on the Rivals site...they don't seem to have anyone there, but it directs to another messageboard.

On getting there, an independent, it has been closed down recently after the club threatened legal action for defamatory comments etc.

Apparently it was claimed negative publicity hits sales in the club shop etc.

Our club hierarchy may not be the best, but you couldn't imagine them stooping so low over a bit of internet banter.

Maybe they just haven't realised that the reason they are not making any profit in the shop is because they don't actually have any fans.

Reminds of when the Coventry chairman threatened legal action against the admin on the Cov Rivals site for remarks made by somebody else. Remarks that were removed within 2 hours and were pretty  tame. IIRC somebody called him a rogue. oooooh.

A quick whip round and the finances were in place for serious defense of any action. The Cov chairman backed down rather quickly. Knob.

I thought it was funny how your chairman wanted the message board closed as he though it would affect sales in the club shop.
