i've goten to the stage where any gig above 1,000 people in the crowd feels like crap. its so impersonal, i prefer little gigs, in tiny little venues, one of my favourite was Good Clean Fun in Le Pub, newport... its probably 100person capacity max, its in teh attic of a pub, and the weirdest lay-out i've seen at a venue, but fuck me, we were right next to the band, the crowd participation was immense...

I saw Mando Diao, probably my favourite band of the moment in a the Bar Fly in Camden, thing is most even though they're swedish they're pretty big in Japan.  So at the gig which was pretty small in number me and my mates were surrounded by Japanese, I felt like Kinky Tom in a bar, could see over everyone's head, was brilliant.

It's even worse when there are mirrors jan and you catch a glimps of just how much taller you are than everyone else.

I'm often the tallest person in a bar - no matter how busy.

Small gigs are the future.  Saw Yeti in the Louisiana in Bristol, was excellent.  Also, Killers at the Fleece, Arctic Monkeys at teh Bierkeller, and The Music at the Brighton Corn Exchange/Hammersmith Palais are some of my favourites.

Just your mention of me in a bar being taller than everyone, I think the topic was brought up in there - wondered if you were near by is all.

I'm seeing Death From Above 1979/Queens of the Stone Age/Nine Inch Nails in Boston in a couple of weeks... That's a stadium tour so I'm not expecting a great show to be honest... I'm a fan of smaller venues.

Kayne West is also around when I'm out there so he might be worth seeing... Not into his stuff but a gigs a gig.

Big gigs are good just to take in the sheer number of people around you, but small, intimate gigs are the shit! Cool

No mate I know what you look like, and I've seen you in the Merlin before.  You stick out like a very tall sore thumb, not in a bad way, you're just recognisable!
