August: drive to france, germany, czech republich, some other gay eastern europe place.
Sept: work in these places
Oct: fly to Japan - Thailand - Vietnam
Decemeber: fly to OZ
Dec - Feb work in OZ
Feb - fly to newzealand and figi
april: fly to brazil
May: fly to Mexico, California, texas, new york, canada...
August: back to Swindon

Is that too long in each coutry?

Most(all?) around the world tickets you can only go in one direction, and most appear to be a bit over a grand.

Japan and Iceland are both ridiculously expensive.  Cambodia has Angkor Wat and The Killing Fields(not so sure about the second myself).  You can also shoot M-16s or AK47s while lobbing hand grenades around.  You can probably do this in Vietnam as well, but Cambodia is on the way from Thailand anyway(no point flying), so you may as well have a look.

You'd may as well fly from Melbourne to the west coast, Adelaide is supposed to be a hole(most Austrailian cities are pretty dull tbh).  If you are looking at working while you move around, have a look at a WOOLFF(sp?) guide book.

Oh, and if you are training it around Europe, you can buy a ticket if you are under 27 that gives you unlimited train journeys for a certain period.

Hope this helps.  You'll have a wicked time Cheesy

I travelled around Europe and used this "unlimited train journeys". Its called Interrail.

It's very handy if you book overnight trains as well because you get a bed for near nothing.

I'm off soon too...

I've just sold my house and am waiting for completion...

My and the missus are leaving in mid-January and coming back in about July

Provisional itinery:
India - fl - Thailand - ov - Malaysia/Singapore - fl - Indo - fl- Australia - fl - NZ - fl - LA (USA) overland to NY - Home.

Not booked tickets yet, but considering the OneWorld Explorer to get some extra intra-continental flights enabling us to fly off the route to other places such as China/Japan in Asia, Fiji as part of Australasia and several bits of Canada

Total budget for two people for 6 months about £8000

Not trying to do it on a completely limited budget - allowing for a tiny of luxury on the way.
Bear in mind that £5 of food per person per day comes to £1800 for 6 months and air tickets are £2400 for 2 people. Thats £4400 to start you before we even look at accomodation and other expenses.

It'll cost you more than you imagine and I'm being very realistic.

This thread made me think of is

It's a bit early in the midnight hour for me
To go through all the things that I want to be
I don't believe in everything I see
Y'know I'm blind so why d'you disagree

So take me away cos I just dont want to stay
Cos all the lies you make me say
Are getting deeper every day
These are crazy days but they make me shine
Time keeps rolling by

All Around The World, you've gotta spread the word
Tell 'em what you heard
You're gonna make a better day
All Around The World, you've gotta spread the word
Tell 'em what you heard
You know it's gonna be okay

So what you gonna do when the walls come falling down?
You never move you never make a sound
So where you gonna swim with the ridges that you found?
If you're lost at sea then I hope that you've drowned

From those I know that have done it and are advising me on the trip I'm planning about £1000 per person per month is about right depending on where you're headed.
