The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel is a good bet.
A Lancaster brewery pub & a decent selection of ales.

Pre match for Paris in the Spring read Barrow in September in The Furness Railway.
Lovely. Second year in a row as well.

Having said that, staying down south in Manchester for this one.
Hopefully to minimise the madness of train travel on a Sunday.
Still expecting at least one train cancellation & one cattle truck experience on the way back.
Won’t be much fun with no points in the bag.

The nature & timing of the equaliser was good fun last time.
Maybe more appreciated by those that were there than those watching from afar.
No escaping the abject sterility of the effort against 10 with an outfield player in goal.

Had a look at the Barrow squad. Look to have a fair few older heads & I’m guessing supplemented by a complement of loanees.
No idea if they have a youth setup.

Did read that the senior squad is mainly Manchester based & that they train in that area.
Fair play, an approach that makes sense & they are now established in L2 following their return & no doubt basking in being the premier club in Cumbria.

We, on the other hand are basking in the glow of a tremendous performance last Saturday.

That wasn’t dented by being confronted by a reminder of the 1980 LC semi final upon arrival. Yes, the statue of Emlyn Hughes outside the station.

Alongside the permanently concussed Bill Beaumont if I remember.

But that’s all consigned to the history books now, both 1980 & last Saturday & everything in between.

The prospect of following up on last Saturday with a similar outcome today is tantalising.
Four points from 2 away games would be fine.

Having a manager that really wants to win & has the tools available to make it happen is reassuring, plus the added bonus of very little chance of a bag of shite being dressed up as a coil of finest Cumberland Sausage.

Shouldn’t need a healthy dose of Kendal Mint Cake for the team to be running around as if possessed today.

Victories have to be earned in this league & consistent inconsistency is generally the norm.

Still on the learning curve of getting to grips with this season for me.

Do wonder if the “We’ve got Palmer, fuck Kier Starmer” chant heard at Crewe will reappear today. Sign of the times I guess.
Maybe giving 16 year old’s the vote won’t pan out as planned.

Anyway, the Promotion Party in May gets my vote.
