A mixed bag. Lots of good, some bad, no points. Frustrating.

Thought FBT was calm & solid and moving him was the catalyst for letting Newport get on top in the game.

Agreed, I initially had the feeling that we’d eventually move to FBT at LB and Johnson at LCB but think we need to try and keep McCarthy and FBT at CB as long as we can, blood Johnson in with cameo’s at LB for Kokolo when we need to be more secure.

I’ve been supportive of Brewitt because I genuinely felt in the back 3 under Flynn he was exposed massively & given an insurmountable job to do. Almost defending on his own at times - so could fully understand why all his defending was erratic last minute reactive defending. He’d been dealt a bad hand.

…the issue is today - in a completely different back line that’s a lot more solid & organised he bought that band hand with him to the table. He was still erratic and reactive & it just lead to a bit of panic setting in throughout the team.

On that showing - if he’s always going to defend in that manner then he doesn’t get in this team and I’d rather see Minturn before him. The elusive Tom Clayton too…

It might be knee jerk but that performance fully convinced me that Brewitt will always be Brewitt regardless of personnel, tactics & formation. Very Ifilesque but you at least saw improvement in Ifil with the right partner next to him.

Mccarthy.

All 4 wingers, FBT, Cain and Kokolo did alright.

Devoy and khan poor, brewitt hopeless.

It's a telling tale, again, that a defender is going to win, and many will have another defender as their second choice, when we conceded two goals.  The story of our season - and I voted for McCarthy as well.  The problem, mostly, is the big hole that sits in front of them half the time.  Devoy has a bit of the Aguiar's about him - able to completely vanish from a game, and Khan is Khan.  Here, there, everywhere and nowhere.

I wasn't really sure who to vote for, not that it matters in this one looking at the results. I'll be a sheep and vote Mcarthy. He was assured and defended really well. A great acquisition that would be an ideal signing in the summer if we can get him permanently.
