Now that it appears we are safe to travel again, got a few things in the calendar to look forward to. Hoping to be going to Turkey for 2 weeks taking advantage of the Good Friday/Easter Monday/May Holiday Bank holidays but haven't booked anything yet.
We got as a present a 2 day break so going to Lincoln in April. Don't know anything about the City but from pictures it has a 'York' vibe about it and my sister went last year and liked it so nothing ventured etc.
And finally going to Porto for the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. This is third time lucky as it was a birthday present for the wife which kept getting cancelled because of Covid. Hopefully BA won't dick around too much with my 'refund voucher'.
If you have any questions about Lincoln feel free to ask BO, as I live there.

Ah legend Nick!! We're staying very close to the cathedral I believe. I guess just some pubs/bars and restaurant suggestions (open to anything, we're not fussy) as well as places to see would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance sir.

ooooh we are huge cheese fans, tell me more Will have a think and let you know.
Cheers NB, appreciated. Likewise Bob if you need any tips 😎
thanks Lincolred, this beats Tripadvisor all hands down I guess all we really need are a couple of decent restaurants and a list of characterful bars and we should be good to go. I see from the fixture list that Lincoln are at home to Wigan on the Saturday so the town centre might be quite 'lively' on the Saturday.

ooooh we are huge cheese fans, tell me more Cheers NB, appreciated. thanks Lincolred, this beats Tripadvisor all hands down Sure NB can no doubt add to the list - Uphill/Bail Area/Cathedral Area - Decent Pubs - The Vic (other side of the Castle near The Lawns), The Duke (on the bail by Newport Arch) , The Prince (also on the Bail), Morning Star and Adam & Eve (oldest pub in Lincoln)also not bad in same area. Restaurant's- The Old Bakery (would need to book) , Browns Pie Shop on Steep Hill (prob good idea to book), Olivares Tapas Castle Square (prob good idea to book). Down town/ Brayford area you have the standard main stream pubs and eateries The Treaty of Commerce (near the train station) is a decent pub (but don't go on the Saturday!) The Cornhill which is in the middle of town near Barclays Bank has been recently redeveloped and has places such as the Cosy Club and The Botanist. Hope that helps

I like Lincoln. Been a few times. Don't forget to try steep hill - it is well named. Did a little boat cruise last time which was fun.

I see that Lincoln Red has already listed some of the suggestions I have, but I guess two recommendations must be even better.
Things to see - Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle - the grounds are free to walk around but timed tickets allow you to see the old prison, the medieval wall walk which has great views on a clear day and the Magna Carta. If you like museums the Collection or the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Just out of town is the Bomber Command memorial and visitor centre. It's worth walking down Steep Hill and going to the Marina (if the weather is good Royal William IV is a good pub for sitting outside and relaxing by the Brayford. Also as CS said, you can take a boat trip here.
Uphill Pubs - Duke William, The Strugglers - where people used to congregate to watch the hangings at the Castle. Down the bottom of Steep Hill are two bars - the Cardinal's Hat and the Strait and Narrow which are pretty popular.
Uphill Eateries -
Mexican - Tequilas (Bailgate) - reasonably priced Indian - Castle View Thai - Thailand No 1 Spanish - Ole Ole Tapas Slightly pricier option is the Old Bakery, but you'd need to book. Actually you'd probably need to book at any of these.
If you venture downhill to eat, there are most of the usual chains down there, many of them right next to the Brayford, but you'll know what to expect there anyway.
If I think of anything else later, I'll post again. Any questions, I'm happy to answer if I can.

I'm potentially in Lincoln the same time as y... a couple of weeks before. Will let you know if there is anything of note that sticks out.
From our conversations in the past we take interest in some similar stuff, more than happy to recommend!
