A later kick off, an all day pub crawl, this would have been an away day to look forward to.
Twenty years since the last encounter at Portman Road.
Have been there more recently through work.
Could blot out the moaning of the client based up in Lack of Endeavour House by peering out of the window down at the ground next door.

Didn't make the last win there in 1991 but did see the 2-1 in '89, Steve White in the last minute. Smiley
Also remember the I was there when Fjortoft scored moment in the FA Cup followed by a Nicky Hammond cock up.

It's been a free pass in terms of criticism of individuals this season if the view is that the L1 struggle is mainly down to the impact of Covid.
However, hoping that there is a lot more substance to the new keeper in terms of shot stopping ability when compared to the intermittent hologram that was his predecessor.

Would expect an improved performance and maybe Ipswich could be a bit sluggish after a long lay off.
A quick start, take an early chance and who knows. The start of the Sheridan revolution? Possibly not.

Anyway, back in the good old days when live music was still allowed Ipswich's finest would always put on a very good show.

If he plays tomorrow then he can only play for us or Newport, I suspect he wont make it off the bench

Not been on this forum for some time and have not read back.  I hope that Twine isn't being heralded as the saviour of STFC's season.  That said, it will be interesting to see how he does get on if he plays some part in the match.

I recall that I suggested that he should be worthy of first team playing time following his pre-season performances. However, like many, I have no idea how he might get on in div 3.

I don't think DJ will feature - Maybe on the bench. I think Hope will be above him in the pecking order.

I'm not saying that's right, but I suspect that's what will happen.

I think all we can be certain of is that Travers will be in goal and maybe Matthews on the bench.

Newport call their bid for Twine off, with Flynn saying bigger clubs are interested

Two ways (and I'm sure many more) of looking at this. Flynn has stated this to see what Town do next. If Twine gets minutes tomorrow (and especially a very late and suspect 88mins sub appearance) then Newport are the only real suitors that could utilise Twine for the rest of this season. That we know they would like to. I would say it means we are interested in them making a better offer.

If he gets zero minutes, then Town are saying to Newport, you can make bids if you want but we already have other parties interested.

Let the games begin.

I think people have been strangely pragmatic about his saviour like potential in this aspect. FWIW unless we have already decided that he has to be flogged I am not sure what we really have to gain by not playing him after calling him back, he looked good in pre-season ans proven he can do it (at least a bit) in Div 4.

Realistically, how much could Newport pay. Nowhere near his worth I suspect.

I assume they will get something for reaching R3 of the cup this weekend, albeit a home tie against Brighton would have made a fair bit more if it wasn't being played behind closed doors.

I suppose Power/Standing/Whoever may think that (as long as Town offer Twine a new deal) they can get more for Twine EoS via tribunal. If he doesn't sign a new deal.

I may have shared this before (it's around 4yrs old but I doubt too much has changed), Rob Hall is a good example of a young player developed by a club and then leaving after contract expiration.

https://fullcontactlaw.co.uk/2016/11/compensation-players-24-mystery/

In some ways, it might be better for Town "long game" wise to keep Twine to the EoS. I guess it really depends on if Town really need the cash now (which would be in dribs and drabs anyway likely) or cna wait for a better payout in the summer, if this situation were to arise.
