I agree with this - in several of Kovar’s games the defence operated ok until the inevitable howler by one of the back 4 leaving him verY exposed - Last week’s FA cup tie being a good example - he was in the place he should be for Grounds to head back to him, sadly Grounds made a bad mistake, the second was a big deflection, and he made a good save 1 on 1 at 1-2 which could have been the catalyst for a comeback.
He has also made some errors too.

Yesterday I thought Fryer ought to have done better with the first goal, but agree the defence didn’t help him.
I think if defenders are going to pass back to him, they will need to realise that unlike Kovar he isn’t two footed.

I would expect to see Fryer in goal against Accrington, at least.

For all the talk about goalkeepers, it's the blokes in front of him that concern me more.

Baudry at fault for 3-4 goals in as many games
Grounds at fault for 3 goals across Pymouth and Darlo
Odibayo at fault for at least 2, if not all 3 goals yesterday, plus the disallowed goal that probably should have stood

You could Gordon Banks in goal and be struggling when such basic individual errors from centre halves serve up chances on a plate

Let’s not forget, for the goalkeeper to become involved, the ball has got past 10 other players first!

I'm not so sure that pink shirt is that recognisable to his defenders around him

I echo what boeta says, but would argue it’s more a team thing. The back four get zero help from those in front of them

Sheridans main concern should be making us harder to beat in the middle of the pitch

Haven't replaced the void left by Doughty

I’m not sure doughty would have been much help defensively. AGrants legs have gone, and our wingers/wide attackers offer no support

Grant could have played just in front of the centre halfs and Doughty further forward

Yeah, fair point. Would give an extra option and a bit more flexibility to try a 3 in the middle (with proven specialists in that poisition, rather than crowbarring in a defender who can occasionally make a pass)

It will be interesting to see who Sheriden targets in the januray window
