I remember going up there, first game of the season, Shay Given’s debut. Won 1-0. Our minibus got stoned/bottled on the way out - which was impressive as they only had 3000 odd home fans.
We took a fair few, too. Ty Gooden looked like a world beater!

I have mate from Hull (Or Holl, as he would say).
He's a Liverpool fan.

Luton and Gillingham are undoubtedly shit holes but Hull doesn't come close in my opinion. I went to the game in '95 and remember walking around the marina (a marina if you please!) before the game and I was quite impressed...I suspect we'll get a bit of a shellacking today though...

I had the 'pleasure' of living in Hull for six months through work in the late '80s. I can confirm that it is a typical end of the Road Town and the only reason for going there was because you lived there. It has improved significantly in the last 20 years and, in its favour, I used to do alright at the dog track at Craven Park and picking winners on a five-dog track was easier than one from six. The surrounding area in really nice and Beverley is a superb town with a good racecourse.
On the negative side, I did not make a friend there for the entirety of my stay and there seemed to be an inbuilt hostility to any soft southern bastards. Not the greatest six months of my life, although the last six months have not been especially brilliant either. Oh, the marina is nice though!

All most footy fans see of Swindon is the walk from the station to ground which is grim.
Yeah, the streets could do with some litter picking but there is some late Victorian and Edwardian architecture for away fans to admire along the way if they are of a mind to do so.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? Crap!

Hull is a great city, and certainly doesn't deserve the slating it gets.

Memories and knowledge of Hull:
Some great civic architecture.
Also on the receiving end of a few bottles flung by local yooves before the Given debut game.
Saw my first ‘Tanfastic’ tanning studio in KuH.

In the scheme of things not as bad as I was expecting. No DJ a concern, I guess an injury.

The match preview on the OS yesterday reported that DJ picked up an injury in training and wouldn’t be featuring.
