or one preloaded with IPTV on, which of course would be a theoretical conversation given the legality issue

right, so I guess it depends on the service - who provides IPTV. And how good your internet is.
I have a friend who might have IPTV on a firestick hd and for the most part it works fine. the biggest disadvantage is it's not that easy to record with.
other issues are buffering (see internet connection) and very occasional service unavailability.
you should probably use a vpn to disguise your identity.
in terms of quality it's fine. near broadcast quality.

What service is your ‘friend’ using Batch? My ‘friend’ is have an awful lot of trouble with buffering recently so potentially looking to switch. |

It’s taken me nearly 2 years to come up with a broadband/tv package that works almost perfectly for me here in the sticks. I never got on with my preloaded firestick when in the UK.
I have signed up with an unlimited Vodafone 4G sim which I’ve put in a 4G Huawei router. I get between 30-40 meg download which is vastly better than my maximum 7 and much too often less than 3 meg I used to get.
I use Iconic Streams as my iPTV provider which, so far, is buffering free. My only moan is the lack of a catch up facility which they say they will be offering soon. €75 per year for this.

my friend is using horizon world IPTV. my friend gets buffering sometimes too, and isn't sure if it's his powerline plug/older Sony Android TV combo, or the service.
ifollow apperently plays ok on the same network setup but using a laptop!

Thank you for your response fellas. I get the feeling that they are all roughly the same and more than likely just using the same suppliers! I guess it's all a bit of trial an error to find something that works well. Although a bit pricey some people suggest going down the Nvidia shield route instead of firesticks etc.
