On a slightly related topic, I have built up a fairly substantial number of points on a TUI credit card. Those points can be used in part payment of a holiday.

TUI have decided to discontinue the card later this year and if you don't book something by a specified date, the points are lost. I am a bit bemused by the short notice and I suppose I will have to book something for next year in the vain hope that all this goes away by then.

I guess you could ''sell'' the points online to someone if you feel you might not use them in time.

Check your flight. Ours got cancelled but we only found out by logging into the website. Are you still within a window to  cancel without getting hit with the costs?

not in any window. booked ages ago, pre-covid.

biggest mistake was missing the fco 'essential travel' advice being an exclusion in our holiday cancellation cover.

I would beat myself up, but it wasn't something even on the remote possibility of happening radar at the time.
