Indeed he did. He was very candid about a lot of things like when he never had his contract renewed at Crewe and they told their fans he wanted to move back to London when that was blatantly not true as he moved to nearby rivals Port Vale.

He struck me as a person not to air dirty linen in public and to not look back and engage in He said / She Said. Even if he did hold a grudge he seems to like to sort them out on the pitch.

He was very refreshing and got a lot of respect from me for that. Top bloke. Also loved the way that he spoke about his tussle with Will Atkinson? in the game vs Port  Vale and the crunching tackle he did on the Carlisle player!

I hope he stays for at least 1 more season.

Reckon we’d do well in L1 with, essentially, last year’s squad?

Having watched a few games at the top of L1 on TV last season (and some lower down) I think exactly the same squad could easily push for play offs at least.

Think we would. I'd be gobsmacked if we managed to keep/resign all of Yates, Reg, BFG, Grant, DJ and Doyle though

I think we'd be mid/lower mid table.

Your optimism is admirable.

Liked the cameo of his cocky, teenage "who are yer?" to Roy Keane being met with "give me the ball now or I'll break yer legs".

No player has given him second thoughts since.

Obviously a really lovely guy... unless you're an opponent.  My player of the season.

I agree, we are a far better team than a lot of fans seem to think, but whether we could keep the same squad for next season is debatable. Unlikely Benda and Yates will come back and wage cap will affect things.
