Didn't Gorman spend half a million on Mark Robinson?
Thought he was pretty poor for that price tag..
£600k! another Town record at the time, he started badly but got better over time and turned out ok but never a £600k player in a million years.

Sturrock did a decent job.
Agreed. Don't feed the troll.
The Cureton shout seems right to me.

We used to refer to Jason Drysdale as Jason Dogshit. I'm never really abusive to our players but made an exception for him, Steve McMahon and David Peach. I'm sire they were great human-beings though, except for McMahon.

Who was that Finish chap who had some international caps... (checks swindon-town-fc) Marko Tuomela!

He'd played alongside Sami Hyypiä! He wasn't quite as good.

He played in the away game at Bournemouth during the fuel strike, a game which we lost badly and, for such a big lad, he was really tentative.  I remember the home fans singing "what a waste of petrol" at us.  Don't think he played again.

I liked Dave, but in the grand scheme of things he was a shit signing. though I'm still not convinced he was out the team wholely for football reasons

Someone suggesting Blair Sturrock was shite is not in any way trolling.  Some of what you have posted about coronavirus certainly was though.

I thought Blair tried hard and got a fair bit of uncalled for abuse from some Town fans but take out the clubs where he was signed by his Dad out and he was pretty much a journeyman L2 and non-league forward with a terrible games/goals ratio.

Sturrock did the job we needed him to.

This thread should've ended when Cureton and Thorpe were mentioned. As a pair they were utter fucking gash for us

Perhaps my memory is failing me but I don't recall Sturrock junior being particularly revered during his stint at the club. I am pleased to read that he is now held in relatively high regard.

He got dog's abuse from some quarters. Unfairly I thought. Not the greatest of players, but a bit of a scape goat I reckon.

my memory is that he was 'alright' I suppose, when running into the channels anyway. Not so much in front of goal.

Tried his best, wasn't quite good enough.

hard to be bitter. definitely had no expectations when he arrived though
