Votes for teams of the season are usually carried out around Christmas / January if I remember correctly, who do you think from our current squad and the other teams in L2 will get into the team of the season.

I reckon Doyle is a cert and maybe Grant & as well and then, not sure if Doughty has been consistent enough

Benda is by far the best keeper I‘ve watched this season.
Rob Hunt has also been consistently very good and his contribution overlooked as Doyle and Grant have for obvious reasons taken most of the headlines.

Perry Ng will prevent Hunt from getting in.

I dont think it would be chockablock with Town players as there have been so many injuries.

Doyle. Grant? Maybe Doughty?

I've seen a few of these around. Only Doyle seems to be the consistent Town player that appears in the lists.

For me, I'd say Doyle is clearly in the team. Of the others, I think there is a good case for Grant also.

Doyle, Grant, Yates, Benda, Doughty, Hunt should be the ones most likely to get in, probably in that order. But often it comes down to how strong a position is to know who will actually get in.

Who from other sides is a definite? Sarcevic at Plymouth? Perry Ng? Randell Williams is the best player I've seen at the CG, his stats suggest he's been pretty good all season.

For me Grant is one that just gets on with his job. He does it well, but doesn't stand out. He is just a rock that sits quietly.

Am I right that when we won old Div 4 comfortably in 1986 not one of our players was in the chosen Div 4 team?

Kerslake in three seasons in a row, and if he'd played for us for the whole of 89-90 there's a chance it could have been four in a row

Crewe would prob have Ng (RB), Pickering (LB) and Kirk (LW/F)

Plymouth Sarcevic (CM) and Mayor (CM)

Exeter Williams (RW/F)

Chelt Broom (CM) and Tozer (CB)

Us Grant (CM) and Doyle (F)

That gives 10 outfield players in a 3-4-3 diamond (maverick but close enough to work in theory)

Not sure on keeper. Benda is a massive talent but has had a few howlers along the way

I have not seen a sufficient number of non STFC games to offer any real informed view on players from other teams. I have
only seen limited highlights on TV and read a few match reports online and in the press.

The great thing about us this season, is that you could make a very good case for having 8 STFC players in the team of the year, or at least wouldn’t weaken the alternative

GK Benda
RB Hunt or Caddis
LB Pickering (Crewe)
CB Tozer (Chelt) or another rock solid centre half
CB Baudry or Fryers
CM Grant
CM Lydon
CM Doughty
RW/F Williams (Exeter)
LW/F Yates
F Doyle

And that doesn’t include Anderson who has been excellent when fit.
