‘D’s time

Derby County - last game of the season, faint chance of the play offs, sat in the home end with a few other Town fans. Got beat.

Duncan Shearer - brilliant scorer of fantastic goals.

The Den - Tuesday evening, dark and dangerous 70s. Kept schtum.

I was in the home end at Derby that day too.
Remember walking through the foggy streets of South London to the Den on an early 90’s winter eve, only to find the match postponed. Not a completely wasted day out though as I’d seen Hoddle return from injury for the reserves at Craven Cottage in the afternoon.
The Don as an obvious D nomination.

Dean Court - Barry Corr with a curler into the top corner in 2007.

Dorchester - Keith O'Halloran, awful injury just when he was really peaking in a Town shirt.

Sol Davis. Crunch!

David Dangerfield. Before my time, but a great name.

Dagenham away FA Cup 1984/5. Game called off supposedly because of waterlogged pitch. The pitch was fine. Daggers wanted to call game off as West Ham were home the same day & punted on a better crowd if STFC game was played on the Monday. Then all the shenanigans in the 2 matches that were actually played.

- Peter Downsborough - 15 March 1969. No explanation needed.

- The Den 1970 - Unusually, a Saturday night game (evening kick-off due to being Grand National day, as I recall). Travelled on the 'football special' which went all the way to New Cross (or was it New Cross Gate?) station. Pre-crowd segregation days and genuinely scary.

- Jimmy Davis RIP
