Training ground – astro-turf vs grass
and recent form/injuries

There are many articles on the net about the pros and cons of
both surfaces but to me it seems that the only advantage astro-turf has is it’s durability in very wet weather. The evidence seems to suggest that lower limb injuries are more often sustained on astro-turf. Ball behaviour is definitely different.

There is no doubt that all pro soccer players prefer grass surfaces and the Premier League bans the use of astro-turf.

I believe prolonged training on astro turf and then occasionally  playing on grass will hinder consistent individual and team play. This could well explain some of our recent performances.
There are advanced forms of turf which mimics natural grass but doubt that is what we have – and it will still not be the same.

I know grass training grounds will be more expensive to maintain
but they would be the better option.
