I like Holloway. He is an extremely passionate and humorous individual who appears to be a great man manager and also comes across well in the media. Always complementary about our style of football and seems to be trying to get Grimsby to play the game in a similar way. Think it will be a good game of football - weather permitting!! - and expect us to edge it in a reasonably high scoring affair. 3-2 with Doyle 2 and Yates scoring. Should be 8.5k minimum attendance with Grimsby bringing 500+.

Isn't Holloway their manager now? Decent appointment at this level. We're at the stage of the season where everyone (except the really shite teams) still think they have a shot at the playoffs.
When you factor in other than Colchester they have played mainly teams at very bottom of the form table so are clearly getting carried away. They seem absolutely ideal opponents for us in that they can't defend so have to attack, there is no way they will out football us.
Some of them think we'll only have 4K home fans and which is bizarre.

Aren't the Cods Fleetwood? Anyway, a tighter than expected game which we'll edge 2-1.

Yep.

The last few games have been a grind, but we have the points.  For no real reason I reckon we will perform to our best and give them a good beating.  This is not based on form, more a feeling we seem to have a few tough ones then click.  It may as well be this one.

Wellens has had 5 games while at STFC with more than a 7 day gap since the previous one. Record, won 4 Drawn 1 (incidentally that 1 was against Grimsby)

Suggests a manager who can use the extra time to set up a side well. Town win a close game

Don't they call themselves the Cod army?

That’s like calling Sunderland fans Geordie’s.

Cod is from the North of the Humber - Hull.
Haddock is from the South of the Humber - Grimsby.

Anyway back to the game, Doyle hattrick as he'll score one and his goal scoring form will come flooding back!

4-0 Town (Doyle 4)
Should get reasonable odds on that

I don’t get the beware of Grimsby stuff. They’ve beaten Morecambe, Stevenage and an out of sorts Colchester, plus drawn with basket case Bradford.

We’ll put ‘em to the sword!

Quite.

Some would have you believe that they're on some sort of record-breaking run, but their form is far from amazing. It's decent, but nothing more than that.

It won't be easy, and Holloway's a decent manager, but we should have what we need to take all the points.
