With the Numb now winning its possibly going to be a battle between the top 5 as opposed to the top 4.

They may actually bring a decent following for once. On second thoughts, they don't have a following  Cheesy

Cheltenham coming into will probably work in our favour as it will pile the pressure on the others below us first.  I still think we'll have to fuck this up not to go up from here.  Hard work has been done, recruitment has been spot on (we have a lot of forward options now) and we have fixtures where we win if we perform to anything near our best on most occasions.  It's not about the others now.

Are we really worrying about Cheltenham now? This is shaping up like the Di Canio season so it’ll be a Crewe v Cheltenham play off final again.

Nope, not worrying about anyone the way we are playing,  but does make it a lot more interesting and puts more pressure on the other three top teams.

I think Numb will contend...for the POs. I don't think they'll be part of Town's  battle. We really don't need to concentrate on them.

If I were a Cheltenham fan, I'd be saying that going up as Champions is doable.

But I'm not a Cheltenham fan. I'm a Swindon fan, and I'm saying that going up as Champions is even more doable for us than it is for them. Or anybody else in this league for that matter.

I would be more comfortable with more of a gap, though. Especially over 4th.

Plus they have ColU, Vale and Cambridge as their next three games. Let alone Exeter, us and the big Glos derby

Exactly.  The remaining fixtures for the other 4 teams mean they are highly unlikely to all be picking up enough points for automatic promotion - they'll be pinching from each other and the teams they play around the play offs are not going to be walkovers either.  Our fixtures leave it in our hands - we should be looking to win at least the majority of them, and that puts us in the top 3.  We've done the hard graft already and set ourselves up for a good finish, over to us to deliver now.  The others will either scrap it out below us, or a couple will break away from the other two once they start playing each other.

Whilst not thinking we should concentrate on Numb, a cursory glance will tell you they're very much in the mix. Back at end of Jan, I reckoned there were 8 clubs in the mix of which we were one.

Now down to 5, for 3 like Cobblers, ColU and Bradford, who were all above Numb, there wasn't much wriggle room their chances resting on good run of wins, Cobbs perhaps, falling foul of FA cup involvement, ColU a couple of untimely defeats and Bantams well and truly fucked by the grenade we bunged them.

There's still a long way to go and a lot of games to be played in a short space of time, a couple of poor games can derail any of the 5.... sort of thing that happened to Mansfield last season happily sat 2nd with 5 to go and didn't make it.

Numb need to win a bit more on the road, but their obviously defensive way of playing on their travels may serve them in good stead, when grinding out wins matters.
