I sit corrected then, I know they were certainly plastic backed every time I have sat around the central part of the stand.

FGR want to build an entire stadium out of wood, we should retain them until they come back in fashion.

I've only ever sat in the Arkells twice, once in the mid 80's with my dad (my first game) and once in the mid 90's with my then girlfriend who liked football until she sat through a Swindon Cambridge League cup replay.

Have no recollection of the seats although the only time I have sat on wooden seats (Turf Moor c.1999) I remember commenting to my mate that it was the first time I had seen such things.

I am fairly certain I've sat on a wooden one in that stand in the past.  It's not like the plastic ones are cushioned.  I like the seat in the Mercedez Benz Stadium here, place to put my spare beer in while I drink the other one.

I used to have a season ticket in the seats that were removed by the away fans. I'm sure they were wooden in the 90's.
They definitely weren't on Saturday though

Saltergate had lovely railway sleepers. They were actually fairly comfortable, just no back rest.

The east end at Ashton Gate for away fans had no backs. I've sat on wooden seats before at Goodison Park before about 8 years ago and believe they still have them now. I have no issue with them just baffled by Crewe fans saying that sat on them on Saturday.
