By the time we got into the ground it was about 30 mins in and the score was still 0-0.
All downhill after that.

Mirandinha, a Brazilian novelty at the time, featured for them.
Went on to manage over 20 clubs at an average of about 1 every year from '96 onwards.

Yep it was all downhill after that.

Pre match getting the drowning of the sorrows out of the way first in The Moon Under Water.
Unusually there doesn't appear to be a festival of some sort going on.
The Beer Festival was last week. A pity.

The list of notable Cheltonians is impressive.
We have XTC, they have Gustav Holst.
Sadly, an Ode to Death is unlikely to make it onto the playlist at the Jonny Rocks.

Just realised that some of us will get to remember the fallen on three separate occasions.
Anyone who doesn't go to football will only get to do it once.
At the referee's whistle I'll be sparing a thought for Duncan Boyes.
A local lad who won the VC at 17 and was gone at 22.
Didn't die in the line of duty but a sad tale nonetheless.
Life is cheap, but the medal certainly isn't.

So, here we are again.
Wellens has yet to win a cup game.
Just play the strongest available team today and anyone who doesn't pull their finger out gets to go through the motions in midweek.

Forgot the brolly but the sun is shining at the moment.
We can do this today.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
Crap!

It was one of those games.... we'd won at top flight Norwich and had a strong Macari cup fighting side.  So Town travelled in numbers, I was on the football special which broke down around about n of Gloucester.  Being pre privatisation, BR found a couple of class 47's and double headed us up Newcastle, arriving about 15 minutes late.

It was a first sighting of Gazza in the flesh, and you could see staright way he was quality, the way he just brushed aside Stigger and Kammy, not easy.

The subsequent betting scandal just cemented it into legend.  Newcastle got brushed aside by Wimbledon in the next round, on that pitch you could see why.

By the time we got into the ground it was about 30 mins in and the score was still 0-0.
All downhill after that.

Mirandinha, a Brazilian novelty at the time, featured for them.
Went on to manage over 20 clubs at an average of about 1 every year from '96 onwards.

I too was on that train Yes...within 5 minutes of arriving at St James' Park and fighting our way through the throngs to get a glimpse of the pitch, we'd gone a goal down. Feels like yesterday and at the same time a life time ago - "Paul Gascoigne, the blossoming Newcastle youngster"...and the state of that pitch... Huh?
