Not great on its own. But in the context of “Frenchie doesn’t fancy it tonight” when he was fucking injured, that’s not on.

Frenchie is his nickname.

And I am inclined to agree that he did not fancy it. He was poor tonight.

What did he say that was homophobic? Must have missed that

Players have come to the side to powder their noses. Not like real men, eh Dave? It’s not that bad, it was just an accumulation of drivel from him in the first half that got on my nerves.

Not enough responsibility taken from our creative players tonight. Too often getting into a decent position and then going backwards.

Don't see the point in bringing Doughty on to do the same job as Rose was doing.

Grant was class all night and always looks to play it forward if he can.

Doyle and Yates tried hard but didn't really have a sniff. Keshi and Isgrove really struggled to make things happen.

Baudry was also called Frenchie at Leyton Orient. Nothing to see there.

Wellens blaming himself for the defeat. For himself read Broadbent. He had a poor game.

Colchester put in a perfect away performance much like Northampton did.

We're still going up. Just a very poor evening. Cambridge will be tough on Saturday, spanked Mansfield 0-4 tonight although Matt Preston was sent off (again) at 0-0.

He was clearly injured, their player had a sly kick out at him when he was running back to trip him and delay him getting back into position. He couldn’t walk when he came off.

Think Broadbent is done, Wellens has just said he’s kicking himself for making the wrong sub and bringing Broadbent on.

Going to my second game of the season tomorrow, first one was Northampton, I’ll make sure not to return if we lose.

I'll make sure to stay away, have a good season everyone!

Broadbent is finished here. Out in January. Somethings not right at all.

Presumably RW thinks he should have used Fryers at CB, not Curran?

Bolton/Oxford let down my 7 fold over 2.5 goals acca for £260 to top off a poor evening. Bastards.

Reg will be pleased.

Why would I be pleased?  As I said earlier, tonight was always going to a difficult game, midweek Theo etc. and so it proved so not a surprise. The hope being that we might have been able to find a way, as that is what sides who get auto do.

However we looked a long way off of that....

No end product tonight. If it was there we would have been 2 up after 15 mins. Strange game

If plan A doesn’t work, dogmatically stick to plan A

I’m not saying go route one, but we clearly got nowhere with our 4-2-2-2, so why not try a more conventional diamond? Doughties best off behind the frontmen, which is where I thought he was going to go when he came on - nope, like for like with rose, standing on the centre backs toes

Broadbent looks shot, conroy still can’t defend - watch him ‘cover’ for that third, abysmal

We’ve not beaten anyone decent this year. Hopefully this was just a blip

It was like a cheap bettery from poundland performance tonight.

Started off very brightly. And for 10-15 minutes I thought the early 'going up' talk was clearly right. However slowly but surely we faded out the game, consistently getting worse and worse. We started misplacing passes, our attacking became more infrequent, and lets be honest - Colchester took over. In fact they looked the better team and deserved their win.

I totally get the point of Doughty coming on, no point in continuing in the same vein and hoping for the best. But he was so bloody deep and there wasn't a lot to pick out playing 'quarterback'.

As mentioned by more than one person, perhaps high tempo footy twice in a week is too much mentally as well as physically.

I still don't have the feeling of a false dawn, these games happen, but time will tell.

Oh well.....

Be good to see them bounce back at Cambridge.  My first away game for ages.
