So my teenager has done something do his laptop which has installed a Russian browser as default  Eek and blocked access to several of his desktop shortcuts (mostly games  Cheesy).

Is there a decent free antivirus program he should install, or do I need to fork out for something?

first off run and download free Malwarebytes, then Superantispyware and also ADWcleaner.

They are all free and will sort most problems out in a matter of minutes.

Google them for current links.

If they don't work then there are many other options out there for free before you need to spend some money on them. AVG or Avira.
