We were not shit last season....it was a glimmer of light excluding the cup exit debacles.

We were quite good but not great and great sides win leagues or gain promotion.

A need to kick on is required.

It's that need to kick on which is the elusive bit.... still 10 days til kick off, so a couple of strong signings could yet make a difference.

FWIW, I thought he looked quite handy.

As a footballer or a stand up comedian?

I watched all but 2 games last season and I thought we were actually "shit" in about 2 or 3 games, we couldn't score and let in a fair few soft goals, but the actual team performaces were not that shit.

The results were shit, our finishing was shit and our defending was shit at times but as a team we almost always looked capable of winning games right up until we missed an open goal or let in a soft goal from a corner.

We were bottlers last season. We'd go on a decent run, then every time it looked like we were going to get into the playoffs we started playing like a bunch of cunts. That would then leave the playoffs looking unlikely as we dropped away, and the cycle would repeat again.

I agree, last season we were not shit at all, ok maybe 2 games under Wellens we were shit the rest we were not bad.

We just needed a striker who can score for us to kick on.

Probably the two games I attended  Smiley

We certainly never looked a side that compete for promotion, but there were a few positives, and those, if possible, are what Wellens needs to build on.  The pre season started well enough, but the raft of trialists, has stalled that somewhat.
