Have you always been pessimistic Reg or has it got worse with age?

I look at the league table, some of the upcoming fixtures, involving us and others, look at what seems to be happening in terms of squad, available players etc. Then how morale and motivation might be in terms of the time of year, contracts etc.

I note that Newport are very strong at home possibly partly because of the poor pitch, and that a win for them and their other game in hand could pitch them up into the PO's.... a long shot, but one which may motivate them.  Further we haven't really done Tuesday night away games for a while.... recently Stevenage, a prime example, by a long way our worst performance under Wellens.

I then consider the recent debate about how well Wellens has done in the circumstances, and I think everybody feels he has credit in the bank... however football being football, you can never stand still.  It kind of highlights those who a while back were saying season over, because we were likely to come up short of the PO's, but not so these are important games.

That credit can only be retained by getting decent results, hence the danger in these 2 fixtures, and tonight a draw would be a very decent result.

I would like to know why your preview post is about the potential consequences of a loss tonight rather than the consequences of a victory?

As I explained looking at the circumstances, it's hard to make out a solid case for a victory.... of course it could happen, we have done well at home specialists like Tranny, Bury and Franchise.... however those were Saturday games played on decent enough pitches.

So is your prediction a defeat tonight then?

For the record I’m going 2-2. Think it’s a tough game but as you have said we have a good away record this season. Wouldn’t be a surprise if we come away with a hard fought victory though that puts us right back in the PO picture again.

For the record I think we can beat them tonight and go on a nice little run until the end of the season and see where we finish

AKA managing to find any negative i can? If you search hard enough you can make a case for us getting beat in any game ever. I think you've managed to prove that here.

Shame about the Yeovil result in the end, however we look as good as we have done this season and have shown we are capable of winning against anyone in this division, and a case can be made just as easily for win as for a defeat.
Were good enough to win tonight.

Considering his love of trends, it’s somewhat surprising that Reg has seemingly overlooked the fact that only two sides have won more matches on the road than us, with one of those being the league leaders...

Sometimes in midweek games you cannot buy a pass until ifollow is live which is about an hour prior to KO.
