Carrol is a horrible player ... but he's our horrible player. We haven't had a villain like that in donkeys', maybe Alan McCormack but Carrol is a true toe rag.

Certainly Welens has improved results somewhat, but interestingly your list breaks down handily into 7 game segments and we've 7 games left what it shows is that over 7 game segments we're good for 11 points, which would finish off on 68 points the same as last season.
Interesting.

At the same point last season we were on 61 points (4 points better off and 1 place higher in the table than now) and 3 points off 7th place with no game in hand.

Last season though we only won 4 of our last 17 fixtures and were more on decline than we are now.

Last season we were in a handy spot when Flitcroft bailed, and consequently tailed off.... if we did finish this season on 68, it would represent a steady second half, after an iffy start. Which would feel about right... perhaps it would be fitting to get 69 points.

69 would feel apt but 78 would be better Wink

There is a sequence of 7 games in those 22  that gave us 14 points.

If you chalk off the Carlisle home game, you get 21 games and segments of 7 yielding 12,13 and the most recent 11, so an average of 12 points... which would give us the magic 69  Smiley  Better than last seson.

Two things stand out for me today:
1) I think that's the first time we've beaten 10 men all season - we've previously had 4 games where the oppo have had players sent off and drawn all of them
2) There's signs that Wellens seems to be finding the player in Woolery. If he can sustain that, he could be a real threat next season, especially if we can keep Robinson (or replace him well)

Thanks PV.  Have been out.  Harboured hopes but reading through the thread input has been a fantastic pleasure.  We have put in some really big performances away from home - the team seem to have taken a real step forward under Wellens with so many individual seeming to grow into their potential.  A beautiful club and a beautiful read everyone. Great win today. If only we could sort our home form out.

1) I’m not 100% but am I right in thinking in those other 4 games we have never been winning when the red card was issued? Always easier that way round and they don’t dig in.

2) I do like Woolery a lot, his last few games have shown what a threat he can be and if he can do it for the remaining games we do have a real chance.

For me it’s all about chasing down Forest Green, same target as another 3/4 teams. The game in hand gives a lot of false hope as when I look at the table I assume we have the 3 points. Sooner that’s out the way the better.

Great win.
Wellens currently has a success rate equal to Hoddle according to this

Some very gracious comments on the Shakers froum after the game.

Sometimes you have to realise the opposition are good

All fans of all teams in all sports would do well to remember this but seldom do.

At the very worst its impetus for next season. I think we've beaten the top four away now which is pretty amazing.
Unfortunately not,  got beat 4-1 at Lincoln, drew  0-0 at Mansfield but have won at four of the top six - still not bad.
