Avebury is 5 minutes further from the county ground than the air museum is from huish park

Ssshh. Best not to encourage too many visitors to the sacred landscape.   I reckon away day visits, should if possible be to the sort of thing you wouldn't normally make a big effort for, but might as well as in the area.

I’m a philistine. I couldn’t give a rat’s arse about ‘culture’ or ‘heritage’.

Stick me in a pub and I’m happy. The other bollocks isn’t part of a football day.

My thoughts exactly. I can’t contemplate being anywhere else within the 2 hours before a Saturday afternoon kick off.

The pub used to be an integral part of a day at the football for me, but a lot less so now that I'm (a) older and (b) a parent.  Pleased to say that, for me anyway, lack of alcohol doesn't detract from the day at all...so long as we play like we did on Saturday.  (Still buzzing and still hoarse.)   Grin

I used to get wrecked every single game back in the day. Started noon in The Crown in Stratton for some sociable Stella then a taxi to the old BR Club in Shrivenham Road. Stagger down the road to the Shrivvy and, no doubt, make a complete arse of meself.

Away games were even worse.

It's perfectly possible to do both culture and pub, or one of the other... take Macclesfield, interesting Silk Museum, more or less right next to a decent Spoons.

It's a shame we've a game tomorrow, as your buzz could have lasted the week

If there aren't any, I think you know it's your duty to whip out the magic markers when it's a bit quiet and draw some in. And some manatees, while you're at it!

Should get Squires to do one for the "foyer" at the CG.
