Even when I worked, something to be avoided if at all possible.  I've always thought the rest of the year was for having fun, therefore those who feel obliged because of social pressure, to have a once a year, tend to get a bit embarrassing.

Scrooge Smeeton.

Already done mine last Thursday. Out for a meal at the Castle Coombe golf club, than back to chippers for a few bevvies.

Its all gone wrong since my yoof. The days of post party chundering and a day in bed have been thwarted by some bastard safety chip within that stops me going past a certain state of drunkness.

Hence this year it was a kebab and the 9pm train back to Swindon.

Bottles of free red wine don't help.

I'm with Reg on this one. Works dos in general are a pain in the arse - Xmas more so.

When I worked in London there was a coach trip to a Newmarket evening  race meeting. Jellied eels and booze on the way up - and they made an appearance on the way back, too.

I swore after that to swerve works dos

We all got taken for a meal last week. Revello Italian in Bradford on Avon. I recommend it if any of you are ever near by. In fact, there are a number of good restaurants their.

Well not quite... in my last work, I'd give the sit down meal and disco a swerve, but hook up for the afters in OT.  This tended to be those who'd I'd socialise with sometimes anyway, who knew how to pace themselves and had good capacity, + any newbies who might be up for it.

Self employed and work from home.

Just met up with former boss, in same situation, for our annual AGM.

Savoy - Beehive - Wheatsheaf - Goddards - back to Savoy for a couple of large ones.

Job done, very happy, and no food or corporate bollocks involved.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
