I think Jewell recommended Wellens for this job didn’t he?

Good appointment on the face of it. Tactically the game has moved on since Jewell’s successes, but he’s not here to get involved with the tactics.

So there are no direct quote’s from fans? Just a newspaper quote.
Must be true then.

I tend not to place too much credence on what fans think, other than putting it into the debate.

As I said Wellens seems clear about what he wants from PJ, therefore it's a fair enough appointment.  We just wait and see what it delivers.

Going by Wellens' quotes, PJ is here largely to handle contracts, help with identifying players and scouting and stuff. Which is what DOFs do. Very good timing considering there's a window just 3 weeks away.
Fuck off BR, me and you both know it’s another ‘jobs for the boys’ appointment.  Wink

Very positive. Shows at least we haven't scraped the bottom of the budget barrel yet.

It’s nice to see/know it’s a Wellens appointment, as opposed to another Sherwood/Williams incident.

I'd imagine the remuneration is heavily dependent on getting cuts from any transfer fees generated.

Yes. The fact that Power and Jewell have some previous is probably a bonus.

...11-12 years ago...

So what's the issue.

Makes a lot of sense to me.

While Wellens and Hunt have had a great (league) start, they are extremely inexperienced. At some point they will hit a sticky patch and its good to have experience to draw back on.

They also need to attract players that may well share the skepticism many of us had at the Wellens appointment.

Success or otherwise the appointment makes a lot of sense in addressing the concerns (and makes more sense of the Wellens appointment in the first place)

edit: concerns on his best before date - we'll have to wait and see.

Reserving judgement for now. Not sure what to make of this yet but if it helps Wellens then it should be seen as a positive.

What is the point in getting him to claim it is "coincidental" that he used to play with Power? Surely best to start off open and upfront if you want the genuine support of the fans?

Seems a positivs step to me, given that (a) Power didn't have to spend money on a DOF and (b) this seems to have come from Wellens rather than Power.
