I remember this being part of the charges against the Town.
Must be worth a 1 div relegation, changed to a 10 point deduction on appeal for next season.

Who cares times are so bad for STFC at present,I'm clutching any straw to blacken other clubs to make me feel better.
10 point deduction and life ban for the player.

Hillier was also found guilty of betting against Town when they played Newcastle in the FA Cup in 87/88 and was banned from involvement in football as a result.

I believe Hillier was banned for THREE YEARS from football for the illegal betting (winning the league - he got a return - and also losing a third round cup tie at Newcastle - both bets made with the intention of covering STFC expenses)

3 years for Sturridge would be fair therefore

Before the expiry of the ban, the illegal payments and related HMRC issues came to light.

Hillier, Swindon Chairman:   three years for two bets

Joey Barton:                       One and a half years for 1,260 bets

DeMichelis, Man City:           £22,000 for 29 bets

Sturridge (if guilty):             my bet:  2 signed shirts?

I don't see how Sturridge allegedly passing on the fact he was going on loan to West Brom would have gained Liverpool any advantage.

Yes, not disagreeing on that,  simply pointing out the inconsistency of the punishments.

Exactly. I know a few players in the past who have told me they are joining a club and put a bet on it. No rule saying they can't tell anyone
