It was a very poorly judged attempt at a joke.

Get well soon Glenn.
Yeah...not really appropriate.

Good news that he's responding well, we've already lost one of our all time greats far too early this year with Ray Wilkins, certainly don't want to be losing another. Never having seen 'The Don' play, he is for me without doubt the greatest payer I have had the privilege of seeing in a Town shirt by a country mile.

Thanks for posting that clip 4d,  also in the Shrivvy road that day,  remember the goal well, one of them you never forget,  for the younger generation it gives them an idea of what they've missed !   (Through no fault of their own,  of course).

As already said, the news looks more positive.

Listening on 5 Live on sat evening it sounded like an obituary in waiting.  Hopefully premature.  Good luck Glenn.

I was spoilt as a kid being serve with this! Hoddle without a shadow of a doubt the best player I have ever seen in Swindon shirt! That goal against Sunderland sent the ball boy the wrong way!!

Ha! Found it at last. Blink and you'll miss it but it's one of my favourite Hoddle STFC moments. Vs Millwall '93. Hoddle gets the ball in front of the old Shrivvy Road stand and sends the Millwall defender completely the wrong way with a drop of the shoulder and has him doing a little pirouette and it's all he can do to stop himself from crumpling in a heap on the ground (the 'Wall player obviously, not Hoddle). Beautiful.

12 minutes in (although the rest is worth watching)

My first ever game - I only remember it from the TV angle and not from the front row of the SB.

GH was my first footballing hero, terrible sad news.

Slightly off topic.... they’ve just showed a clip of Hoddle in his Swindon kit on ITV Westcountry and he was singing ‘You’ll never walk alone’ with the Swindon fans. Did we used to sing that?

Yes we did, although it had to be pretty exceptional circumstances as I remember, like knocking a big team out of one of the cups. Yes, that did used to happen...
