Rich, fantastic effort with the 100th one, Sam Burton's recall for a man of 93 was great and you teased it out of him with some skill. You got the feeling he had a smile and twinkle in his eye throughout. Great job.

My father and grandfather both talked of Sam when I first started going so good to hear a bit more about that era.

Here's to the next 100

Mine as well, I just missed seeing Sam myself, but remember the 2-2 game in his penultimate game V Kettering.  WE were 2-0 up and then the non leaguers got a couple of lateish goals to force a replay.

We lived on Shrivenham Road and the old man gave free rein around the garden to fellas from the Works to park up their bikes, twas a healthy crowd back then.

People think our fans moan these days.... you should have heard that lot post match.

Being a slow listener, just finished the Billy Bodin one!

Will jump to Sam Burton tomorrow.
Must be one or two on here who have been lucky enough to see arguably our three greatest keepers in action.
Would be interested to know how Sam Burton compared with Peter Downsborough and Fraser.
Different eras I know and probably with the heavy ball still use, as well as being bundled into the goal by opposition centre forwards.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
Crap!

Wobbly - You'll hear on the Podcast more details but i don't think many Centre Forwards ( or drinkers in Old Town ) bundled Sam anywhere.

Well done Rich. Proper bit of club history you've archived there. Great effort for the 100th.

Really nice listen, and good work Rich being some sensitive in your approach.

Have passed a link to my old man who remembers seeing Sam Burton play, apparently Sam (and his mum) lived quite close to my dad when my old man was growing up!

Saw the various bits and pieces on social media, looks like it was brilliant. Fair play to Costanza, what an excellent effort. And fair play to the club too, on the fan engagement front, plenty of management and players there. Superb effort all round

Yep. I enjoyed it.  Costanza was a bit if a star.  The players and management took the banter in good style.

Jerry Yates prefers Arctic Monkeys to the Grimthorpe Colliery Band while Rob Hunt prefers Chas & Dave to Bloc Party.
