Got to the end of the Vigoroux one. Nothing too incendiary, came across as a guy that doesn't take life that seriously in a game that takes itself ridiculously seriously and most of his problems come from that.

Only about half way through Vigoroux one and he comes over OK so far. Listened to the Bessonne one yesterday, rather candid about PdC probably confirming a lot of supporters suspicions. On a wider career level either he is the unluckiest man alive or there is more to it than he was letting on.

PDC seems to be a case of you were on board or not at all. Plenty of the squad were card carrying followers of Di Canio.
I also don’t think it’s as simple as ‘he didn’t play me so I hated him’ either.

Indeed, although also came across as a guy bright enough to know that its probably best not to piss anyone off in football, what with it being a small world.... Most impressive was his ability to specifically remember games.

Listened to half of the Phil Smith one this morning, he comes across as a really nice guy. Just getting to the nitty gritty Maurice Malpas era when I had to halt.. to be continued..

Cheers Berni. Hope you enjoy the rest.
It’s a big ol’ episode and he gets more and more into it as the conversation went on (I think so anyway). If they’re willing to talk then I’ll keep as much as I can in!
Phil was brilliant throughout the whole process. We had to postpone a couple of times and he had the courtesy to call in advance to let me know. That sort of stuff goes a long way.

Haven’t heard the podcast yet, but for some reason smith always struck me as one of the most ‘ordinary person’ footballers we’ve ever had. Probably because I saw him fitting a car seat on Akers way once - you’d never see vigs fitting a car seat on a busy road
I liked him

I remember one game, all the players were turning up in their flash motors with personalised number plates, and he pulls up in a clapped out old purple Fiesta.

Avid listener to the pod.
Just finished the Phil Smith episode.
Really enjoyed it. Quite liked the longer episode.
Always had a soft spot for Phil. Even though he made mistakes, I only remember the charlton semi final second leg and a couple key saves he made.
