Feel sorry for Japan they were great, if a little naive. Also I've not seen one japanese player chase, the ref, feign injury, time waste, spit and so on. Other teams , in fact all of the other teams should take a leaf out of their book.
All very good points. They are also very good technical players who just seem to keep running.

Plus the time taken to clear the squad pitch invasion every time someone scores.

Good point. These days with the need for total adoration, they should add at least a minute per goal for the darlings

So are England winning tomorrow or what?

I'm feeling tense and these other rollercoaster last 16 ties haven't helped. Wanted to avoid Colombia from the start as I've had visions of them knocking us out all along.

A repeat of the Denmark 3-0 in 2002 would do just fine thanks...

This WC has thrown up a few surprises, and beating Columbia would be right up there.

I'd have preferred the Belgium route, a game v Japan, where we might have headed in a couple from a corner or something, then a crack at Brazil, a last 8 finish acceptable.

Columbia have the corners covered with D Sanchez of Spurs and Yerry Mina of Barca who's about 6 ft 5.

But they are incredibly slow. If we attack with pace, as we've seen then we should be too much for them. Here's hoping.

3/1 on Columbia if you fancy it, cracking price. It’s an even match in my eyes.

Certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if we won, more a surprise we won a knockout game

Cheesy I'm terrified, however...

Number of substitutions is irrelevant,   its 4 minutes almost every game,  no matter what.

Probably due to the amount of VAR time

If only someone had told them the game is 90 minutes plus stoppage not 70. Always run out of steam. But desperately unlucky not to at least take it into extra time and lose then

feel sorry for Japan in so much as they gave Belgium a hell of a fight.

less so that they turned the Poland game intro a farce at the end, and only got through on dodgy criteria in the first place. They were the Bez of the knockout phase.

Fuck fuck fuck - at half time I put a couple of quid on Japan to go through, good odds considering BE looked like they could play all night and not score (a la STFC sometimes). I was thinking of cashing out then the Boring Bastards scored (boring as in all Belgians, not specifically the national team).

Am thinking of posting my bets on TEF so you can all bet opposite and make a fucking fortune!!!!!!!!

I went the other way as immediately after Belgium got one back there was only going to be one winner, so made a few quid.

Incidentally Japan were the first team that I have watched genuinely tire towards the end, most of the poorer quality teams have been very fit and been able to press for the full 90 minutes.

Debatable if it actually exists, for most men they'll happily produce sperm into their 80's, for which I am grateful.

So, reading between the lines.

The Colombian coach is 68 but looks much older.

Can Pékerman inspire his team to stand firm and deliver or will the pressure to perform result in a flaccid display.

I feel that the power of young Harry's shooting might be too much for them.
