Any locksmiths on here - legal ones not the nocturnal do it yourself type. Lock on front door buggered. Any recommendations or ones to avoid? Never needed one before in my 57 years.

From personal experience if the lock needs changing (most bits are consumable) do it yourself or use a general builder rather than a locksmith as they are about 4x cheaper!

Should be a DIY job Chalks, is it a barrell lock? If so you can buy a replacement barrell and swap it over.

It's dead easy changing locks (assuming you can get inside) bits are cheaper if you buy them from a DIY place or off the net, look on YouTube if you're not sure how to do it. If it's just the barrel, you're ok.

Oh ok. thought it was a biggish job. Will look at youtube to see if I'm confident to give it a crack. If not, I've got a general builder I can use. Thanks all.

My wife is more intelligent than me and looked at our home insurance policy. She also knows how good I am with a tool in my hand so didn't trust me!!
