Seeing as there's other clubs called the Robin's and this Forum is keen on Cheese, do you think we should switch to being the Moonrakers with all its cheese connotations. Or is the Robins set forever in stone?

The lazy journalist might even put in the spurious apostrophe, nevertheless an interesting question. Once like Crewe we were The Railwaymen, sadly now gone. That Cheltnum, have the same nickname given they play in red and white stripes, really annoys me, I'm a bit of a birder but have never seen a red and white stripey robin. What's in nickname Later today we play the Red Imps... I fear the worst... Here's their Gibraltar branch seeing off the Bhoys

The Hambroids, in recognition of the town's post industrial "progress".
The new crest would incorporate a photo id card.

The Stars.
we'll all know it's a bid to our train building past.
everyone else will assume it's a self deprecating psuedo ironic Americanism. Until we smugly tell them and their couldn't care less eyes.

I love The Moonrakers; unique, has local meaning, a Bond film and cheese themed. What's not to love?

With you on this. Although Spartans would be pretty cool, too.

The cheese bit. I personally love how people misconstrue the tale, thinking it's about country bumpkins, when in fact they're using people's prejudices to trick them.

Indeed, it shows how quick people judge others based upon common assumptions.

In the late 80s and early 90s we would have a Moonraker mascot at big games. Usually involved a rotund fan putting on a smock and waving a big rake with red and white balloons.
Blackburn away in the 1990 play offs was the last time I remember although Stigger Foley's thunderbolt goal and ticker tape was more memorable from the away end.
