serious answer now.

1. user brioche rather than sliced bread
2. add cinnamon to the sultanas or mixed spice
3. add a bit of lemon zest into the mix
4. sprinkle brown sugar over the top rather than granulated/caster
5. my nan used to soak fruit in rum overnight

Jam roly poly, is more difficult than what it seems.... due to it sort of unrolling if not careful to make sure it's properly sealed.

I've often wondered if a Black Forest gateau, really came from the Black Forest
