Luton battered 4-0 by Port Vale.

What a fucked up league this is.

I had hoped Luton might have had their Christmas party before Boxing Day... looks like they had it celebrating tonking us.

Luton's stuffing now means we've conceded the least goals in Div 4 on the road, but the most at home. Crazy.

Deserved to be slated on Boxing day and deserve rich praise today. TBF if we had lost 1 or 2 zip but battled like that I wouldn't of been as angry.

This is where Power is wrong ref fans wanting to win every game pissing over the opposition with free flowing fancy Dan football as he signs players for £1M a pop. We want displays like toady, week in, week out ...win or lose.

Battled tooth and claw for everything today.

Absolutely. The crowd started getting behind them when Woolley chased and blocked their defender. Regardless of score today they worked hard as a team.

No doubting the commitment and effort today but the distinct lack of quality, patterns of play and the general treatment of the ball as a hot potato really is dreadful. Please, please, please bring us some new midfielders in January.

Woolery looks like a rough diamond. There is a serious player in there.

I thought the midfield and forwards worked really hard to get back behind the ball and protect the centre backs, the whole game, so unlike versus Luton second half. Seems to prove it's been a mental problem, not a physical one, so I hope the covering can be repeated in future games.

Enjoyed that yesterday, and a little bit of a buzz afterwards.

Iandolo, possibly his best game for us. Looks much better suited to a WB role.

Kept an eye on Dunne, much better from him.
Was quite vocal as well and helped Knoyle (who also had a decent game) through.
Not sure about the challenge towards the end, didn't look great, but hate it when a player suddenly springs to life after lying prone on the deck for a couple of minutes.

We do have the 2016-17 Norris back, but hopefully he can recover some of that zest from early season, prior to the injuries, but 10 goals from 19 appearances is still pretty good. He does look to be carrying some timber though.

So that's one bad half from the last six.
Two clean sheets in last three games.
Half of the league games won so far.

Well that was the most fun I've had on a football Saturday for ages. Me, SiPie, Iffy's onion bhaji and our mate JS stayed in the pub and got pissed. The only annoying part was losing my bet for Notts County to win.

I got up and said right up until 2.30pm that I was not going to watch after the shit served up on Boxing Day.

But then I remembered we have family round on New Years Day and can't watch the game then so decided to do it, and I am glad I did.

We controlled the game for 85 mins, County only giving us any threats in a mental last 5 mins otherwise we looked solid at the back, RCC looked solid made a few nice saves and caught a few crosses, the only poor part was his kicking into the wind first half.

Again when we hoofed it we looked no better than any Div 4 cloggers but when we kept it low the pace of Woolery had their defence scared shitless, I like what Chalkie says...hes like a learner in a Ferrarri, when he gets to grips with control and finishing he will be a major asset and a class act, but we have to keep using his strengths as we did yesterday and at Crewe.

The back 3 of Robertson, Lancashire and Preston looked solid all game against 2 big forwards, nothing got past them, vastly better, build a team from defence, if you don't concede then you don't lose.

Knoyle grew into the game but looked no better than Purkiss TBH but hes young and that was only about his 4th or 5th game so too early to judge.

Iandolo cannot defend but is a threat going forward with his rubber ankles, his dead ball deliveries was almost at Taylors level yesterday but don't play him in a back 4, ever.

Linganzi played ok, he still plays 1 good game in every 3, 1 poor and 1 average, no consistancy but when hes good hes very good.

Dunne, played much better yesterday but he is a liability, he cant tackle without giving away free kicks and he did go in to hurt the County player near the end and should have been sent off, hes not good enough and never will be.

Keshi Anderson, he set up the goal but he did nothing else all game, he did nothing in the last 3 or 4 games, he needs to be sent back and play Gordon who has more pace and control and finish.

Norris, scored a good goal but did nothing else, lost all his challenges with the centre back, his control is utterly terrible, he could come good but I don't think hes fully fit, yes he has 10 goals but aren't 7 of them penalties? we need a target man who can win headers and has control but knows where the net is when needed, dare I say it Akinfenwa or Hylton but that won't happen, Billy Kee would be ideal but he won't be for sale.

Lets see how we perform tomorrow before we get too carried away but I was very impressed with the way we looked a different team than Boxing Day by changing tactics and game plan and a few new faces, well done to them and Flitcroft.

Oh and County were one of the poorest sides I have seen right up till the last 5 mins, but was that because we made them look shit?

My word no wonder Forest fans call their fans Notts Clownty, they are a set of very bitter fans.

Quote
to describe Swindon as "a good team" is laughable, they were awful, worse than Morcambe

One last point about Swindon. Whenever I have watched them in the past they have always been a good footballing side , this lot weren't. Whilst I wouldn't describe them as dirty they certainly didn't mind leaving a foot in.

I suspect that the FA might want to have a closer look at this game to decide whether a decent bung has exchanged sweaty palms.

Swindon surprised me , I thought they would be a good team but they were c**p and if the real Notts had turned up we would have rolled them easily

Losing to a "crap" side is inescapable in this league. Mop up the bitter  Smiley
