This may be a trick question as the number 9 is the same as the number 6 upside down. So I would say 20 for actual 9s and another 20 for 6s ? So 40.

What if the pipes are massive but far away, but the cups are small and really close.

Just trying to put it into perspective.

Yep. That initial receptacle could be 70ft long and we're looking at the end of it. Therefore no cups receive any coffee.
