Drinking Cerveza in Mexico and figured we have a game tomorrow so never started a match day thread before.
We'll almost certainly lose.

It's against TEF tradition to start a mdt the day before a game, but given how this season has gone, why not?

If this doesn't work, perhaps we can try a post-matchday thread on Sunday?

perhaps you'll have unleashed bad luck on the bad season, making a good result.
just the type of game we'll win, sticking a stick plaster over the sticky plaster buying Williams more time... then lose against Oldham and Coventry..

Great idea, lets increase the misery by starting the match day thread a day early...

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38952000?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_match_of_the_day&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=sportI read this report of how Burnley managed to get something from the Chelsea game and thought about what a great analysis it was. It's also the exact opposite of what Swindon have done all season; stuck to "The Swindon way" even when other teams know exactly how to counter it. This is where a good coach is not a good manager: A good manager will study the opposition, work out weaknesses, deploy players to beat those weaknesses and adjust mid game as necessary. How many times this season have we been undone by teams knowing how to play against us from the start, or changing something mid game to undo our advantage? Our only recent success came against Bolton, a team who haven't played against us in recent seasons. The rest of the division know how to beat "The Swindon way" and we change nothing; it's easy for them. So, if Northampton know how to beat us from the start, it'll be 3-0 or so. If they have to change mid game, it'll be 1-0 or 2-1.

Well I'll add to the anti-curse by predicting that the best-ever title for an mtd thread has to be worth at least an away goal.
Heady times.

I just hope we do a goal. Maybe do two. And do a win too.
Come on football!

Give us a reason to be confident...
You have to go back to 55/56 to find the last time Cobblers did a double over us in Div 3. That season is widely regarded as a benchmark for shitness, when we finished 24th for the first time..... the Board decided to be in charge of recruitment, not appoint a manager, and leave it to the trainers/coaches to work on game management etc. Sound familiar No, I'm not convincing myself either. 55/56 was abject but we still managed to get to then 4th round of the cup and Maurice Owen got 13 and Bob Edwards 11, the sort of numbers our front men can only dream about. Interestingly on being re-elected the Board kept the same policy for 56/57, with no discernible improvement, and so appointed Bert Head as manager part way through the season. The rest is history.
