They can afford to take a lot of gambles on upcoming non league players mostly, it seems to be working financially even if not actually on the pitch as much.

They've been doing for a number of years and considering their crowds and just missing out on the play offs they've done pretty well on and off the pitch

Getting the big earners in before the salary cap i see.

I hope FFP fucks them eventually, but its ok, Gary Neville says they do things in the right way
They have signed Turnbull, Tom Clarke from PNE, Ashley Hunter from Fleetwood (£250k), Jason Lowe from Bolton, Ian Henderson from Rochdale (their top scorer for the last 6 seasons) already, all would be on very good money for L2.

Linked with Lee Camp the Brum keeper, Jack Baldwin from Sunderland, Ryan Edwards from Blackpool, and many others from higher up L1 or the Championship level clubs.

They are really going for it this year and must already be way over the FFP/SCMP let alone the forthcoming wage cap.

Baldwins signed for Rovers, who seem to be going for it also

Oh I missed that one, but I did see Rovers have made a few signings already, their fans saying they are worth tipping for the championship this coming season, its a big step from finishing in the bottom half of L1 to promotion though. Optimistic.

It’s what we did last season in fairness, after a bottom half finish the season before.

Wycombe finished 17th the previous season and got promoted....it’s hardly an extreme suggestion that they could challenge in the current climate.

Anybody can challenge in any season with a good run, of course, but why they think all of a sudden that they will walk the league as champions I don't get. They lost 3 of their last 4 and only won 2 of the last 10 games, its not like they are on a good run of form either.

That won’t be 40m upfront. What’s the balloon payment nowadays for being relegated?
