It's an eye opener. I did it years ago. 3 and half weeks.

I did it a few years ago, a week of waiting every day for a case, followed by a 2 day case and the rest of the week off (didn't tell my employer we were dismissed early)

What's a good case to you?

It'll probably be boring.

Not if you make up your mind now. Go guilty just for shits and giggles. That will show em 😁

Do you still get paid a proportion of your salary plus expenses?

Are you at Crown Court?

I was asked back in the 70's, but because I had just started a new business, they gave me an exemption not to attend, with the condition that if ever asked again then I would not be able to cancel.

There is a daily maximum and I actually lost money. The best part for me was that for the two weeks I was doing it most of the cases got cancelled right at the last minute and the one case I did get on I knew the person and had to be pulled off.

That seems a little extreme but a very pleasant by product of the whole experience.  Eek

Its at crown court in a few weeks.

Are you able to claim parking expenses? It says you can, but you have to ask the court or something..

I claimed expenses for everything and was paid my full salary. This was a few years ago in Coventry though

Well keep us updated, especially whether you get a hand shandy at any stage during proceedings.  Cheesy

You will be told what you can claim and what you can't.  Provided they agree to you using your car, you will be able to claim parking too.  They prefer you to use public transport where possible. I have been called twice, the second time very recently, in a small crown court, and after sitting around for a day was released for lack of trials!  The first time was in a much busier court, and, after having twice been rejected from the jury, was eventually called after three days of sitting around.  It is an odd experience. The vast majority of trials are quite boring, and provided you have a reasonably sensible set of jury members, the decision can often be made quite easily.

I've witnessed probably over 50 cases in my time. This is my opinion
