I know its a long shot but i don't suppose anyone has one lying around not being used? My nephew is at that age where he thinks he knows everything about computers yet he still calls me every week to say he has a virus etc.

I'm getting one of my old laptops up and running as a little project for him.

Thanks

Has it had Windows on it before? Over Xmas I've downloaded Windows 10 onto 2 laptops. One with a new sad and the other had Windows 8 overwritten by Ubuntu. Neither required a licence.

I've had to put a new HDD in it, so its a fresh install.

I put a new SSD in one of mine with a fresh install - No licence key required.

Download Media Creation Tool from here and follow instructions:

Like stfcinbmth says, just get something like this. Find one like the below and they even email it, it's just a few quid and is as easy as downloading a torrent.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322365533426

Then download the ISO from the below.

Can you still upgrade from 7 to 10 for free? I thought that was coming to an end.

It was supposed to stop at the end of July this year but I have upgraded 4 PC's in the last couple of weeks from 7 to 10 and its still free...currently.
