.....we went to Old Trafford in the League Cup. Massive piss up, great night out. 20 minutes of YouTube clips below, Thorne scores at 11.30 in. Best I've seen us play for months, pity we can't get back in the tardis.

We're well overdue a game away at one of the big boys, shame we have to navigate 2 rounds of the FA Cup to even be in with a chance

It's someone like Mark Walters signing that makes me lament.

Never see that again I doubt.

Walters kind of represents the dilemma we now find ourselves in....we would spunk money, we didn't have in the vague notion that it would be alright in the future.....bit like how the economy is run.  However, as we know, it's a knife edge, when the creditors called, the recklessness of spending money we didn't have fully hit home.

So Power is exactly right to try and run the club according to its means, but as we're now finding that brings its own problems.

You'd like to think we could sustain Div 3 football, but it's not a given.....last time we went down, there was a competitive budget, some name players and one of the few managers with 1000 league games in charge.

I remember I got made fun of at school after this as every kid there was a Man United 'fan'. I suppose at least I could say I'd been to Old Trafford more than they ever would... But my strong dislike for United started then.

Poborsky was the stand out player that night, and Scholes if I remember right..

scholes played striker then. we were pinned back for quite some time in the second half. mcclairs last united game iirc, his legs had gone.

remember the cars streaming back from birdlip towards Swindon at 1am or whatever time it was.

I'd love another one of those days
