Even more baffling considering every white American is descendent from European immigrants and the country was founded on immigration.
I actually heard someone on the radio suggest that the country here (USA) was full. It's exactly the same language being used by people - essentially about people taking their jobs etc. The reality here seems to be small towns get ruined when large local industries move out, so you get the same sense of a complete lack of hope in those areas. Australia is going through the same right now - didn't someone just get elected entirely on the "get them out of the country" line? Another country defined by immigration, not to mention a horrific past with indigenous people.
