Removable plates?

I have read of such sorcery, this warrants further investigation.

Not showing the model I have, but this is new and has removable plates.

That sandwich maker looks a prime candidate for a hand held steam cleaner.

Toaster bags anyone? Do not crimp the edges but do a job.

I think I went to the other extreme when I replaced my old one with built in Steak setting that detects the thickness of the steak and has a coloured light that tells you whether it is rare, medium etc highly recommended though.

The George foreman grill is great for toasties. So much easier to clean than the traditional toasted sandwich makers.
The bags are pretty good too but the middle doesn't always get hot enough to melt the cheese I've found.

That's a fair comment given the seriousness of the topic. Cheese and marmite toasties are my favourite.

I've got a George Foreman with removable plates, lovely bit of kit. I'd never thought of using it for toasted sandwiches though!

What a marvellous thread.

Do different cheeses have different melting points? I think stilton would be fine in the bags (if you're the sort of man who'd like a stilton toastie), but a proper cheddar and gruyere is going to struggle for sure.

Similar to this design.

It's at the back where the hinges and electric cable are that's the problem, I just can't get the gunk out.

I think I have that same model. I don't utilise it anywhere near enough as I should.

Beans in a toastie? Never tried that, cheese and beans sounds awesome but also reckon it'd be hotter than a McDonalds pie.

I had a George Formby grill years ago, awful thing. Was great for sausages, that was about it.
Anything else (chicken, pork chops, steak, etc) would just leave bone dry, I like my meat juicy.
